My Experience With Wine

I personally have not had a whole lot of experience with consuming wine however the few times that I have had a glass or two with my Dad, I have enjoyed the experience and am therefore very excited to learn more about wine and the plethora of tastes and varieties that exist.

The wine that I have drank with my Dad on several occasions is a 2005 Red French Bordeaux called the Baronne Nadine de Rothschild Chateau Malmaison from the Moulis-en-Medoc region in France.
I had this wine without a food pairing and it was my first time tasting red wine. The wine had a strong and dry taste to it, but it was very smooth once swallowed. After a couple of sips though I needed some cold water on the side to keep my mouth hydrated. Overall the experience was very interesting and it left me very curious about the different tastes of other wines. Since I was under 21 at the time, my Dad didn't offer me many other varieties than that wine, but because of this class I am very interested in expanding my palette for wine.

Because of the wine tasting experience with my Dad, I would lean towards red wine being my preference, however I am open and really looking forward to trying white wine. The thing that I didn't like about wine was how dry it left your mouth after your took a couple sips/gulps. This was unlike beer, which only left a slightly bitter aftertaste and a thirst for more beer.

I look forward to learning about the different regions of wines and the variety of grapes that make up these wines. I am also excited about the wine tastings that are offered around town because it will most certainly give me a new and different experience every time I taste a different wine than the one I had with my Dad.
